December 1 - Psalm 130:5

What are you hoping for this Christmas? Do you remember looking at dozens of photos of things that you hoped you might receive under the Christmas tree or in your stocking as a child?

In Psalm 130:5, it says, “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope.” The hope here is found in the LORD. It is not a wish for something you can hold in your hands or see in a photograph. It is something that no money can buy. It is also not a wish, but a certainty –a guarantee. It is priceless! What kind of gift could this be? Where can it be found?

We all need HOPE. Real hope is not found in gifts under a Christmas tree or in a stocking hanging from your mantel. It is found in the LORD, and we find the LORD by reading the Word of God!

So this Christmas, if you want a gift that is priceless and beyond comparison with any other gift you could ever receive, look no further than the Bible. God’s Word is filled with many gifts,

Merry Christmas to you in this early part of December. My job is to share with you a message of hope. And at Christmas time, we wish for many different things that we could have under the tree or in our stockings hanging above our fireplaces. But the word of God speaks about, something that we would wish for in the word hope. And it conveys the idea of certainty, not just a wish. Maybe, yes, maybe no, but a promise that's ours. Look here with me in Psalm 130 verses 5 and 6. The psalmist says, I wait for the Lord. My soul waits, and in his word, I hope. And then in verse 6, my soul waits for the Lord, more than a watchman for the morning. The word hope here, again, it conveys the idea of certainty, not just a wish, but I wait for the Lord, and in his word, I find hope. I find promises that I can rely upon. So where do you find hope? You find it in the word of God. You find it in the Lord, and you find the Lord, and the word of God. So this Christmas, I want to challenge yourself and myself to open up God's love letter to us. It's filled with promises that you can't see in a catalog. You can't see on any website. Promises that are for your soul, promises that are for your spirit, promises that no one can take away from you. I hope you're hiding God's word in your heart. For when you read God's word. You have a hope, that is like nothing else in all the world. It's priceless. And it's yours, because the God of the universe has given it to you. Merry Christmas, and God bless.
